Jacky and Trev chose The Pierre, one of our favorite venues, for their elegant black-tie New York City wedding cocktail and reception. It’s always inspiring to photograph a lucky couple’s Pierre Hotel Wedding. The art deco architecture and interiors alone have made The Pierre of of the city’s landmark architectural achievements. The hallways are luscious, adorned with so many wonderful design details. Of course the hotel’s main ballroom has some of the most incredible crystal chandeliers we’ve seen. Very chic! This gorgeous couple’s New York City black-tie wedding reception was Pierre perfection!
It should also be mentioned that the couple chose to be married at New York City’s St. Vincent Ferrer Church. St. Vincent Ferrer is a lovely upper east side Catholic church, and we’ve shot many weddings there over the years. Built in 1918, the interior is very ornate and dramatic, but can be very dark. There are some beautiful high stained glass windows, but they don’t allow much light into the church or sanctuary. The main lighting comes from the church’s interior lamp lighting which is a bit high and on the sides. This means the ambient light inside the church is not the most flattering when the couple is walking down the aisle or for the shots of guests in the pews. To make the light more flattering we mix flash with the ambient light, but in such a way that it still looks natural.
